NBA player Mike "Stinger" Glenn plays himself in this wonderful film inspired by his real life Basketball camps for the Deaf & Hard of Hearing. In a unique casting deaf & hard of hearing, and hearing actors work together and deliver a film which is authentic, charming, competitive, and challenging.Spirit of Love is a diverse coming of age story. A group of misfit teens arrive at the 33rd annual basketball camp, which is the first time girls will attend the camp. Some come with hoop dreams, while others are trying to survive tumultuous teenage angst. Alexi arrives angry and at odds with his Dad Coach Phil, while Ford wants everyone to know he's more than Deaf, and Maddie thinks everyone sees her as a freak. Not only do they learn life lessons through the game of basketball, they soon learn what it means to soar like Eagles, Win or Lose. Spirit of Love is one of those rare films that goes beyond the art offilm making and touches the heart. You can't miss the message that eachof us, while appearing different, are really quite the same - we ALLneed to be loved, and to show love to one another!
One of the things I loved about the film was how what most view as aphysical limitation was viewed as something normal - as opposed to oversensationalizing the topic. The metaphor of sports is great because, asone coach says in the film, "...anyone can play basketball..."
Spirit of Love will give you a new way of viewing those who, on thesurface, appear different. And you will be challenged to show love toothers in a brand new way.

My pastor brought me to see this movie at a Christian film festival inHouston. I wasn't sure if I would like it but I did. It had charactersdeaf and hard of hearing like me. Some used ASL and some didn't. Somehad aids and some had CI like me. It was very cool to see teens likeme. I don't like basketball but I liked this movie because it showedhow we as deaf are the same. Best line in movie was coach Robin tellsgirl that Basketball is the same whether your deaf or not. This is howall people should look at us deaf like we are the same as hearing,cause we are. I thought it was cool that coach Mike knows ASL. I thinkit is a good lesson when coach Mike gives the bad attitude boy Alexi asecond chance and gives him space to figure things out. It was great tosee captions on the movie so my friends who are hearing and I couldwatch together. It is hard with no captions cause I feel dumb when Idon't know what is going on. But not with Spirit of Love.I can't waitto see this movie again cause it has something for deaf and hearing. Iwant to watch again with my friends who didn't get to come. It wasgreat for everyone. It was funny when coach made the boys wear stuff intheir hair like girls. Movie shows we are all the same. If we work hardwe can do some things we don't get chance to. I liked scene at lake anddance.
